What to Expect In Therapy
Initial Session
Your first session is a chance for us to get to know one another. I’ll ask some gentle questions to get a picture of your life and what feels most difficult right now. We’ll also talk about what you’d like from therapy, whether that’s space to offload, support through a particular challenge, or deeper exploration of your experience.
Just as importantly, the first session is for you to get a sense of me and how I work. Finding the right therapist is a personal and important decision, and feeling comfortable together is key to the process.
Weekly Sessions
Therapy sessions are 55 minutes long and usually take place weekly. The number of sessions depends on your individual needs and what you would like to achieve. Some clients come for a shorter time to work through something specific, while others stay longer for deeper exploration and support.
Person-Centred Psychotherapy
My practice is grounded in person-centred, humanistic therapy. This approach is based on empathy, honesty, and respect, and it holds the belief that every person has the capacity for growth and change.
In practice, this means I won’t analyse or hand down answers from the outside. Instead, I’ll work to understand your life from your perspective. Our sessions become a place where you can be real, reflect openly, and find new ways of seeing yourself and your situation.
Some weeks you may simply need a quiet space to exhale; other weeks we may look more closely at the patterns, expectations, or stories that are shaping your experience. My role is to support you as you make sense of what you are carrying and reconnect with your own inner resources.
